KOTA KINABALU: A newborn baby boy was found dead, wrapped in a plastic bag, in the staircase of a commercial shop in Bundusan near here.

       Penampang district police chief Deputy Supt Mohd Haris Ibrahim said that a medical team confirmed that the baby had been dead for about six hours when he was found at about 1.10pm on Wednesday (Aug 4).

       The body was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu for a post-mortem.

       Police are investigating the case under Section 318 of the Penal Code.

       He said no arrests have been made yet and police are seeking assistance from the members of the public in their investigation.
