KOTA KINABALU: A mechanic was crushed to death by the tipper of a 10-tonne lorry at Jalan Bundusan in Penampang near here.

       A spokesman for the state Fire and Rescue Services Department said Monday (Feb 21) that Sulaiman Amat @ Ahmad, 58, was repairing the lorry's hydraulic dump in the 10.30am incident when it gave way and the tipper fell on him.

       Sulaiman was declared dead at the scene by paramedics and the case is now being investigated by police.

       In another accident on Sunday (Feb 20), a 63-year-old man was killed when his car was involved in a collision with a trailer lorry at Jalan Kampung Serusup in Tuaran, about 40km from here.

       Firemen were called to help extricate the man who was pinned in his vehicle after the crash.

       The victim, identified as Low Lian Hwa, was confirmed dead at the scene.
