JOHOR BARU: The body of a 59-year-old man was found caught in some trees along Sungai Ulu Pulai here.

       Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the man, who was single and worked as a sub-contractor, was found fully clothed in the river by a member of the public at around 8am on Monday (Nov 1).

       “We suspect the victim was drunk, based on the statements given by two of the victim’s friends.

       “His friends said the last time they saw the man was last Saturday (Oct 30), when they drank together in Gelang Patah where they went in separate cars,” he said in a statement.

       ACP Dzulkhairi added the victim was believed to have rammed his car into a tree at Persiaran Gelang Patah, as his vehicle, with the door ajar, was dented and left at the roadside.

       “We suspect that he fell into a ditch and drowned while his body was washed to the river mouth,” he said.

       The man’s body was sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for a post mortem.
