Germany's 2-2 draw with Hungary on Wednesday left Joachim L？w's men in second place in group F, setting up a mouth-watering clash with their bitter rivals at Wembley. The last sixteen game will be played on Tuesday next week and around 40,000 fans are expected to attend. After the game in Munich, the German manager said he was delighted to be playing against the Three Lions at the national stadium.

       He told reporters: "Now we travel to England.

       "It's great news to play in London at Wembley against England."

       And certainly the Germans will be confident of winning any penalty shootout, given they have won the last two.

       In the 1990 World Cup in Italy, the brave hearted Three Lions were denied a place in the final after Chris Waddle and Stuart Pearce missed their penalties, allowing West Germany to go on and lift the coveted trophy.

       Then history cruelly repeated itself at the European Championships in 1996, when England again took on their nemesis in the semi-final at Wembley.

       The game ended 1-1 after extra-time - and led to another nerve wracking shoot out.

       Gareth Southgate, England's current manager, fluffed his spot kick and Germany went on to defeat the Czech Republic in the final - meaning football never came home.

       Memories past continue to haunt England fans as they took to Twitter to discuss the upcoming tie.

       One wrote: "So who will miss the crucial penalty against Germany next week then?

       "My money is on Henderson."

       Another posted: "@GaryLineker How many penalties do you think we'll miss against Germany to get knocked out?"

       While a third joked: "Southgate orders continuous penalty shoot out till all players score...."

       However, one fan took a more optimistic view and tweeted: "There we have it then………England v Germany at Wembley Tuesday.

       "How fantastic will it be to knock them out. Come on England we can do this."
