SEREMBAN: Just a day after being released from prison, a 33-year-old suspect allegedly joined two others with previous criminal records on a two-hour spree to rob three premises here.
Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Said Ibrahim said the trio, who were armed with a hammer and canes, robbed two petrol stations and a 24-hour convenience store between 7 and 9pm on Oct 24, and escaped with RM1,500 and cigarettes.
"The suspect was only released on Oct 23 after serving a six-month jail term for a drug-related offence.
"Together with the other two suspects who had also served jail terms before," he told reporters at the district police station here Thursday (Oct 28).
ACP Mohd Said said police managed to detain two of the suspects the following day and recovered the loot, weapons used in the robberies, and two cash registers.
The first suspect, a 27-year-old man was detained along the Elite Expressway around 7.55am, while the second, who is 30, was nabbed in Sungei Way in Selangor.
Both had records for drug and crime-related offences
Checks showed that the Proton Wira used in the robberies here had been reported stolen in Petaling Jaya.
ACP Mohd Said said both the suspects have also confessed to the crimes.
He said the trio were also wanted by Selangor police for robbery and causing hurt.
Police, he said, were now looking for one "K. Thiyago" from Danau Putra 1 in Puchong, Selangor, to assist in investigations under Section 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.
