KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) vice president Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam says it is a waste of time and effort to change the government and the focus should be on resolving the Covid-19 pandemic instead.
The Sabah Deputy Chief Minister's statement comes amid a move by 11 Umno MPs who withdrew their support for Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the Perikatan Nasional Federal government.
He said the GRS-led state government under Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is Sabah chairman for both Perikatan and Bersatu, would continue to give its full attention to resolve the Covid-19 problem in the state.
"This is definitely not the time to change a government," said Dr Joachim, who is also Sabah Industrial Development Minister.
He said the people of Sabah had given GRS the mandate in last year's snap state election and GRS leaders were now duty-bound to fulfil it.
On Tuesday, Hajiji, who is also GRS chairman, said GRS leaders had reached a consensus to maintain cooperation in the state government and uphold the mandate given by the people.
