GEORGE TOWN: No Covid-19 cases have been reported at the Penang Remand Prison here since the completion of the vaccination process in September.

Its deputy director Supt Mohd Suhairi Awang said all 2,238 inmates were given a single dose of the CanSino vaccine in September.

A total of 331 uniformed and non-uniformed personnel have also been vaccinated.

"There were no issues in movement to courts either. New inmates will be vaccinated in stages.

"We have also set aside one isolation bay if any inmate shows Covid-19 symptoms but so far the situation is under control," he said after receiving 2,000 packs of Deepavali goodies from the Malaysia Hindudharma Mamandram Penang branch here on Wednesday (Oct 27).
