SIBU: Firefighters had to break the floor of a house to catch a 3.6m-long python that was found under a house.

       Kanowit Fire and Rescue Department chief Arrahman Chik said they received an emergency call at 8:28 a.m. on Tuesday (March 19) about a python found under the house at KM3 on Jalan Kanowit/Durin.

       "Three firefighters were immediately dispatched to the location about 3km from the fire station," he said.

       He said firemen had to break the cement floor of the house to locate the snake and catch it.

       "The python, which weighed about 20kg, was successfully caught at about 1pm," said Arrahman.

       It is learnt that the python was handed over to wildlife officials to be released in the jungle.
