A pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday in a hit-and-run incident in Prince George’s County.

       Police said the incident happened between 11 and 11:30 p.m. in the 7700 block of Burnside Road, a few blocks from Landover Road, in the Palmer Park area. Police said the pedestrian, who was later identified as Sean Smallwood, 29, of the District, was in the road when he was hit by a vehicle.

       Officials said it was not known why he was in the street. The vehicle left the scene, and Smallwood was taken to a hospital, where he later died, according to police.

       The incident remains under investigation.
