A MUM died of cancer before a trip to Disneyland Paris with her brother and kids - but Eurostar refused to refund them.

Sophie Collins passed away after doctors dismissed her terminal illness for a blocked milk duct while she was pregnant with her second child.

The 26-year-old had hoped to visit the French theme park with her two daughters Daisy and Delilah and brother Matthew for what would be her final holiday.

But sadly her conditioned worsened and Sophie died on January 19, two weeks before they were due to travel.

Matthew contacted booking agent Hays Travel in Maidstone, Kent, to try to get a refund from Disney and Eurostar after forking out more than £4,000 for the trip.

He was given just under £3,500 back for park tickets and accommodation - but Eurostar declined to refund the £700 they had spent on train tickets as they weren't booked directly.

Matthew, 30, from Barming, told KentOnline: "Disney and Eurostar have enraged me.

"We booked the package with Disney, and I don't like being taken advantage of.

"We were told we could either move the date or request a refund, but I don't think we would want to move the date."

The family had planned to go from February 1 to 5, but Sophie's funeral was scheduled for February 2.

Thankfully, Hays Travel was "so helpful" and understood the trip, funded by donations, had been on Sophie's bucket list so worked hard to get Matthew the refund he was after.

He said: "This holiday meant the world to my sister and because of the fundraising she was able to get that opportunity to do it without compromising.

"They were so understanding when we had to cancel. They were still so kind."

However, he said he was disappointed with Disney and Eurostar.

A spokesperson for Eurostar explained a refund could not be issued as the tickets were bought as a package through Disney and the company had not yet received the money.

They added: "We are extremely sorry about the way this has been handled, and that the family were refused a refund.

"The trip was booked via a third party, rather than with us direct.

"In this situation, the refund has to come direct from the company the customer booked with as that is who the payment was originally made with.

"This should have been clearly explained to the family and we are very sorry for the additional stress that this has put on them."

The Sun has approached Disney for comment.

       'ROBBED OF A MUMMY'

Single mum Sophie first spotted a lump bulging above her towel in September 2020.

Her GP dismissed it as a blocked milk duct and sent her away with advice to message it in warm water.

But the lump grew, and Sophie insisted on a second opinion and was referred to a breast specialist.

She was eventually diagnosed with stage three triple-negative breast cancer, considered the most aggressive form of the disease.

In January 2021, Sophie’s left breast was removed. Biopsies then found that at least 14 nearby lymph nodes were also cancerous.

She had her first round of chemotherapy weeks before giving birth to daughter Delilah in April, but tumours were then found in her collar bone.

Sophie, who previously worked as a housekeeper at a Travelodge, was then told that her cancer was incurable and terminal.

Daughters Daisy, now three, and Delilah, now eight months, are being cared for by their separate dads.

Matthew said: "Our hearts are just breaking for Sophie’s girls.

"They have been robbed of a mummy who would do anything for them. But they should be so proud her."
