KUALA LUMPUR: Berjaya Sompo Insurance Bhd has appointed Tan Sri Dr Ong Hong Peng as chairman effective April 7, succeeding Azhar Mohamad.

       In a statement, the insurer said Ong had been Berjaya Sompo’s independent non-executive director since July 107, 2017.

       Prior to his appointment as chairman of the board, Ong served as the chairman of the nominations committee and the remuneration committee.

       Ong currently serves as a member of the risk management committee, the member of audit committee and the member of the investment committee.

       “We would also like to congratulate Ong on his appointment as our new chairman. With his vast experiences, we are confident that Berjaya Sompo will continue to achieve greater heights under his guidance and leadership,” chief executive officer Tan Sek Kee said.
