PETALING JAYA: Thousands of Malaysians are affected by the floods caused by continuous rain over the past few days. Many are stranded with no way home, isolated with no way out or evacuated and placed in temporary shelters as their homes were inundated with water. Worse, some are still seeking help.
But in the thick of these trying times, Malaysians are helping flood victims in all sorts of ways.
Non-profit organisations such as WeListenMY are offering assistance by sending out supplies like sanitary pads, baby diapers, formula milk, clean water and other basic necessities to flood victims on top of holding a donation drive.
Charitable organisation Kembara Kitchen has been delivering food aid since Saturday and is now looking for volunteers as well as donations in the form of goods and raw food supplies.
The Shah Alam Gurdwara has offered accommodation to those affected by the floods while the Gurudwara Sahib Petaling Jaya is helping with food aid,
Similarly, mosques in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya have been turned into temporary accommodation for flood victims.
On social media, Twitter users like @hannaalkaf are compiling a thread of flood aid related tweets.
Another user, @ladymissazira, is looking for owners of transportation such as boats and 4WD vehicles who are willing to lend them for rescue and humanitarian aid purposes.
Twitter user @lamkanahraf highlighted that a group of fishermen are mobilising their boats to Batu Tiga, Shah Alam, to help those stranded.
