PETALING JAYA: Cyber warfare countermeasures and protections are in place to ensure that the nation is well protected from any such intrusions.
Armed Forces chief Jen Tan Sri Affendi Buang, in a special press conference in lieu of the 88th Armed Forces Day on Sept 16, said that the Defence Cyber and Electromagnetic Division (BSEP) was ever ready to counter such attacks.
"It is an ongoing operation to counter any cyber attacks that aims to weaken us. There have been instances where we were able to detect attacks early and there were times where we could launch counters due to our early warning systems.
"The electromagnetic and cyber domains have become real threats due to their borderless nature.
"The Armed Forces, through the BSEP, are executing comprehensive initiatives to increase our capabilities in facing these threats via building up the competency of our human resources, surveillance systems, cyber security measures and policy enforcement," he said.
Jen Affendi gave his assurance that the Armed Forces would always be able to respond to threats against the country.
"To ensure that the Armed Forces are continuously prepared to face any threats, we have to be aware of any changes to the geo-strategic landscape in which we would need to respond to both traditional and non traditional threats," he said.
This year's Armed Forces Day parade will be held on Sept 22 at Kem Segenting, Port Dickson.
Like last year, Covid-19 has made the celebrations differ from pre-pandemic times.
"We have implemented a green bubble to ensure only the Armed Forces personnel are involved. For the public, we will share the celebrations via a live feed.
"All involved in the celebrations have also completed their vaccinations and have undergone testing to ensure they are Covid-19 free.
"Around 2,500 officers and soldiers will be involved in the parade and asset showcase," he said.
In his address to the media, Jen Affendi said that the peace enjoyed by the country was built on the sacrifice of past soldiers.
"For 88 years the Armed Forces have held fast to our oath to defend the country, sovereignty and its interests until our last drop of blood," he said.
