LOVE holds no bounds for 22-year-old Akmal Yusof from Johor who ended up marrying his 47-year-old former school teacher.

Akmal Yusof, who is a manager and owns a cafe, told Harian Metro’s MetroTV how his relationship developed with his former sports science teacher Suzana Isa after leaving school.

“My wife was my favourite teacher when I was in school and she was loved by many students owing to her friendly attitude.

“I liked that about her but not to the point of feeling love,” he said, adding that he lost contact with Suzana after completing his studies but met up with her again several years later due to mutual business dealings.

Akmal, from Taman Medan in Kota Tinggi, said they gradually developed feelings for each other and he gave her a ring last February as a birthday gift.

He said their families were sceptical about their relationship but accepted their decision to tie the knot last November.

Suzana said that she was attracted to Akmal due to his caring nature and wit.

Owing to their age difference, she said that she has to constantly remind herself that she is now a wife to Akmal and must learn to “control her ego”.

       > Utusan Malaysia reported that the recent viral video recording of hundreds of fish flopping onto dry land near a surau at a village in Tanjong Karang, Selangor, is a natural phenomenon.

Tanjong Karang 2 sub-district penghulu Jusmari Jumin clarified that the climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) species of fish came from a nearby pond managed by a local entrepreneur.

He said it was quite common to see the fish appear on dry land but usually not in these numbers.

However, he said the net at the breeding pond had torn, resulting in more fish being spotted on dry land this time round.

He also added that climbing perch live in muddy conditions and can survive out of water for a relatively long time.

Jusmari noted that the recent rains brought the fish out in droves to spawn.

Universiti Malaysia Terengganu fisheries and food science senior lecturer Dr Mohd Fazrul Hisam Abd Aziz described the incident as a natural occurrence for climbing perch which clamber onto dry land in search of a new habitat if their former one is disturbed.
