MELAKA: A bus route featuring stops at popular tourist destinations was launched by the Melaka government on Thursday (March 10).
Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali (pic) said the service, fully operated using electric-powered tour busses, would be offered for free from Friday (March 11) to the end of May.
"We want locals and tourists to experience the ride on eco-friendly buses," he said after launching the service at the state's main public transportation hub-Melaka Sentral.
Sulaiman said the bus route would stop at six destinations, among others, Melaka Zoo in Ayer Keroh, Klebang and Menara Taming Sari at Bandar Hilir here.
He said seven buses were expected to ply these route by the end of this year.
"We anticipate close to 300,000 passengers to use the service, yearly," he said.
Sulaiman added that the buses would be the latest tourist attraction for Melaka.
