An unauthorised biography of the couple has said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who quit royal duties for a new life in California, believe the Queen did not take accountability for the issues raised in their controversial Oprah Winfrey interview. But the claim has sparked a furious reaction from some Express.co.uk readers.
Commenting on this website, one reader asked: "So why call their daughter after her? Dreadful pair."
Another called for Harry and Meghan to lose their royal titles, writing: "I think it’s now time for them to be stripped of everything and just be plain old Mr and Mrs, and removed from the line of succession, just to full of themselves."
A third commented: "Stop attacking your grandmother, the Queen. The Queen and royals owe you nothing."
One more said: "Time these two grow up and take responsibility for themselves not blame everything on a 95-year-old woman."
Harry and Meghan made a series of explosive claims about the Royal Family in their tell-all TV interview, which aired in March.
In response, Buckingham Palace released a statement which said the monarch was "saddened" to hear about Harry and Meghan's struggles but added that "some recollections may vary".
In an epilogue for Finding Freedom, published by People magazine, unnamed sources close to the Sussexes suggested they felt the Queen's comment showed the monarchy had not taken full accountability for the concerns they expressed in their interview.
It said: "The Queen's 'recollections may vary' comment 'did not go unnoticed by the couple, who a close source said were 'not surprised' that full ownership was not taken. Months later and little accountability has been taken', a pal of Meghan added. 'How can you move forward with that?"'
