SINGAPORE - A sixth person has been charged over his role in a gang robbery on April 18 at a good class bungalow in King Albert Park that saw the group make away with more than $4.3 million in cash and valuables.

       On Nov 5, Malaysian national Wong Chi Shan was charged with committing gang robbery while armed with a deadly weapon.

       The 33-year-old man, who will be remanded for further investigations, will return to court on Nov 12.

       The other members – Goh Boon Tong, 28, and Muhammad Tauffiq Ahmad Fauzi, 32, were charged on May 2; Kartik Palaniappan, 31, Mohd Hamidon Ahmed, 47, and Mohd Hashim Ismail, 49, were all charged on May 8.

       All six Malaysian nationals are accused of robbing 11 people while armed with parangs and baseball bats. Their cases are ongoing.

       Another person is said to have been involved in the heist.

       The Straits Times understands that the robbery took place during a gambling session in the house near Dunearn Road.

       One of the victims lost local, foreign currencies and cryptocurrencies amounting to more than $3.9 million in the robbery.

       The group also stole several luxury watches, including two Rolexes valued at $55,000 each, and a Richard Mille watch valued at $320,000.

       It is not known if the valuables and monies have been recovered.

       In a statement released on May 2, the police said that the identities of the men involved were established through investigations by the Criminal Investigation Department and Clementi Police Division.

       Investigations revealed that the group had fled to Malaysia after the incident.

       For committing armed gang robbery, an offender can be jailed for up to 20 years and receive at least 12 strokes of the cane.
