Arrest warrants out for 2 Kuwaiti candidates; Pakistani involved in vote-buying scandals

       KUWAIT CITY, May 30: The Public Prosecution has issued arrest warrants against two candidates contesting the parliamentary elections from the Fifth Constituency, following reports of vote-buying, reports Al-Qabas daily. One of the candidates is believed to be a former MP.

       The main culprit is believed to be a Pakistani man who is well experienced in the vote-buying scandals. The daily has learned from an informed source that the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Interior contacted the suspects and asked them to surrender themselves based on the summons of the Public Prosecution. In the meantime, the Public Prosecution has released three defendants who were detained in the vote-buying case who are “a citizen and two expatriates,” and decided to continue the detention of 7 others pending a hearing in the case.
