MELAKA: A total of 39% of those eligible for early voting in the Melaka state polls have voted as of 11am on Tuesday (Nov 16), says the Election Commission (EC).

       A total of 11,557 voters are eligible to cast their votes early for the 15th Melaka state election at 31 polling centres statewide.

       The total number of early voters consists of 9,217 army personnel and their spouses as well as 2,340 police personnel.

       A total of 112 candidates are contesting in the polls, which is a battle between behemoths as Barisan Nasional, Perikatan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan are fielding candidates in all 28 state seats.

       The EC has set Nov 20 as polling day.
