At the time, Savannah Brockhill was in custody awaiting trial for the murder of toddler Star Hobson. Brockhill was found guilty of murder last week and sentenced to life in prison at Bradford crown court. The court heard how she inflicted terrible injuries on the defenceless 16-month-old during months of physical torture.

Brockhill, who has named herself "No1 Psycho" was found face down after having a 90-minute seizure two days before her trial.

The 28-year-old amateur boxer suffered two cardiac arrests while in remand.

However, she was revived each time by medics who performed CPR on her.

Speaking to The Sun, Star’s great-grandad Frank Smith said: “I wish they had let her die.

"Star’s injuries were so horrific they couldn’t revive her.

       "And yet, Brockhill is saved.

       "How unfair is that?”

Referring to Brockhill's attitude at trial, Star’s step great-grandad David Fawcett said: “She was just sat there with this smirk on her face.

"It was all just a joke to her.”

Star's mother, Frankie Smith, was found guilty of causing or allowing the death of her daughter and received eight years in prison.

Smith's grandfather Frank told The Sun: "Is that all Star’s life is worth?

"Frankie will be out in four years, how is that justice?

       "She watched her child die.

"She lied repeatedly to cover hers and Brockhill's tracks.

"They both deserve to rot in jail.

       "It’s disgusting.”

Both Brockhill and Smith's sentences are under review by the Attorney General, under the Unduly Lenient Scheme.

A spokesperson for the Attorney General’s Office said: “We have received a request for these sentences to be considered under the Unduly Lenient Sentence (ULS) scheme.

"The Law Officers have 28 days from sentencing to consider the case and make a decision.”
