Sarawak's daily Covid-19 cases dip below 1,000 for first time since mid-Aug

       KUCHING: Sarawak's daily Covid-19 cases dropped below the 1,000-mark for the first time since mid-August on Tuesday (Oct 12) with 834 new cases reported.

       The state disaster management committee said 98.4%, or 821, of the cases were in Categories One (no symptoms) and Two (mild symptoms).

       Of the remaining 13 cases, two were in Category Three (symptomatic with lung infection), six in Category Four (symptomatic and requiring oxygen) and five in Category Five (symptomatic and requiring ventilator).

       Kuching district had the most cases with 215, followed by Miri (184) and Sibu (143), while 25 other districts reported between one and 59 cases each.

       The state's cumulative tally now stands at 226,510 cases.

       The committee also said 28 deaths were reported in the state from Sept 30 to Oct 11, including one brought-in-dead to Sarawak General Hospital here on Oct 9.

       It added that a new workplace cluster was identified in Bukit Mabong and a community cluster in Lawas.

       The Putai 2 cluster was detected at a construction site at Putai in Bukit Mabong with 28 confirmed cases to date.

       In Lawas, the Air Awat-Awat cluster involved residents of a water village at Awat-Awat with 42 testing positive to date.
