Yuda Dam waterfalls at Lake Kinshu in the northern Japan town of Nishiwaga, Iwate Prefecture, are seen lit up in the Olympic ring colors on July 25, 2021. The light show will be held until the last day of the Tokyo Olympic Games on Aug. 8. The waterfalls will be lit up in three colors -- red, blue and green -- used in the Paralympics logo -- between Aug. 24 and 29 while the Paralympic Games will be held in Tokyo. According to the Nishiwaga Tourism Association, illumination of the waterfalls began in 2014 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the construction of Yuda Dam, and it was recognized as a Night View Heritage of Japan spot by the Yakei Convention & Visitors Bureau in 2020. In addition to the special light shows during the games, the regular illumination of the waterfalls is being held between around 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. and will run until Oct. 10.
