TRICK-OR-TREATERS are -facing a Halloween shock this year — healthy snacks such as carrot sticks instead of sugary sweets.
Half of Brits will hand out wholesome goodies with rice cakes, nuts, grapes, protein balls and fruit chips among the top 15, a poll claims.

Sugar-free sweets head the list of healthier options, three in ten householders planning to give them to young callers.
Second most popular as “treats” are mini packets of raisins, which one in four favour, while apples — one in five — are third.
Making up the rest of the list are fruit chips, bananas, oat flapjacks, vegetable crisps, dried mango, other fresh fruit and assorted dried fruit.
Yet sugar-loving youngsters should not panic. The other half of householders will dole out only sweets and chocolate — 67 per cent arguing it is an annual event, and 59 per cent calling it a bit of fun.
Three-quarters of parents, meanwhile, forbid their youngsters from eating their sugary Halloween haul in one hit while four in five admit to having pinched some of it.
Russell Jones, of Amazon Fresh UK, which commissioned the survey, said: “We’re increasingly seeing a shift to more healthy treats — but whether it’s flapjacks or Black Jacks people are planning on giving out we hope that parents and children alike enjoy the night.”
