PETALING JAYA: Police have issued compound notices to eleven people and arrested two for testing positive for drugs after raiding an entertainment outlet at Sungai Way here.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid said a team from Petaling Jaya CID and Narcotic Crime Investigation Department raided the premises at around 3pm on Sunday (Aug 22).
"When the team raided the premises, the manager, a woman in her 40's, failed to produce a valid alcohol sales license.
"We seized nine bottles of alcohol and found six men and one woman believed to be customers there aged between 20 and 50.
"There were also three foreigners who were working at the premises at the time of the raid," he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 23).
He said the manager and customers were issued compound notices for not complying with the standard operating procedure (SOP).
"The manager was issued a RM25,000 compound notice while seven others were issued RM5,000 compound notices.
"We conducted urine tests on every individual there and two of the customers aged 22 and 25 tested positive for methamphetamines and ketamine," he said, adding that both suspects were charged at the Petaling Jaya Court Complex on Monday.
ACP Fakhruddin added that the manager and three workers were arrested for further investigations under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Section 39(b) of the Immigration Act.
"They have been remanded for three days to help with further investigations.
"We advise all business operators and the community to comply with the SOP set by the National Security Council," he said adding that any act of non-compliance was irresponsible and was a factor of which could lead to failure in efforts by the government to flatten the curve of Covid-19 infections.
