PUTRAJAYA: Sarawak will be joining a band of states that are under Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) beginning tomorrow. Announcing this, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic) said Sarawak would move into Phase Two after fulfilling the three key indicators.
He said the National Security Council’s special meeting chaired by the Prime Minister had reviewed the threshold for Sarawak yesterday.
“The NSC special meeting reviewed a presentation on transitions for states under the NRP and after looking at the threshold figures, the council has agreed for Sarawak to move to the next phase which is Phase Two,” he added yesterday.
Other states that are in Phase Two are Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang, Perlis, Perak, Penang and Sabah.
The Deputy Prime Minister also announced that telecommunication companies’ customer service centres would be allowed to resume operations beginning today.
He said the meeting agreed to allow such outlets located in shopping complexes, major supermarkets and stores to open.
He also said that 17 premises comprising factories, business outlets and construction sites were ordered to close on Sunday after authorities found that they had violated the Covid-19 standard operating procedure.
“The government has announced that more enforcement activities will be carried out on factories and business premises as there are too many SOP violations committed,” he added.
On July 11, the task force monitoring SOP compliance had checked 78,975 premises nationwide.
This includes 2,087 factories, 16,086 business premises, 625 construction sites and 449 workers hostels.
