A 31-year-old Maryland man has been arrested and charged in the shooting death last week of a woman with whom he had a previous relationship, Prince George’s County police said.

       Marcus Mitchell of Landover is being held without bond at the county jail. He is charged with first- and second-degree murder, police said.

       Authorities believe Mitchell shot 29-year-old Remi Howell multiple times on Feb. 3, 2021, and left her body in a wooded area in the 7900 block of Oxman Road in Landover. Two days later, at about 1:40 p.m. on Feb. 5, county police located the body during a welfare check.

       Police are still investigating a motive for the shooting.
