PETALING JAYA: MySejahtera is wholly owned by the government with the Health Ministry as the main stakeholder, says Khairy Jamaluddin.

       The Health Minister, in a statement Sunday (March 27), clarified that the Health Ministry had never sold the application to any private entities to manage public health services.

       Khairy also reassured the public that data in the MySejahtera application was under the supervision of the Health Ministry and would not be shared with any government agencies or private entities.

       "MySejahtera data comes under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342), the Medical Act 1971 and international standards.

       "Data transactions from the MySejahtera application are uploaded to cloud server networks every day and can only be accessed for MySejahtera use only," he added.

       Khairy hoped the public would continue to use the MySejahtera application without hesitation as the privacy of the public data is guaranteed and the Health Ministry will continue to ensure that this is not compromised.

       Khairy also said that the government had never made any payments to KPISoft Sdn Bhd, which developed the application from March 27, 2020, until March 31, 2021.

       "The company offered the MySejahtera application to the government for a year without payment as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort," Khairy said.

       Khairy was responding to the issue of the ownership of the MySejahtera application raised by Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a Facebook post Sunday.

       "Since it was launched, the use of the MySejahtera app has been through the 'software as a service (SaaS)' approach to reduce the turnaround time required to develop new software following the need for a specialised system to manage the Covid-19 pandemic," Khairy said in his statement.

       He added that on the expiration of the CSR period, the government had, on March 31, 2021, agreed for MySejahtera services to be continued.

       Accordingly, Khairy said the government continues to cooperate with the company in implementing the improvement of MySejahtera functions up to today.
