IPOH: Volunteers for the Covid-19 Phase Three Clinical Trial Research are hoping their vaccination status on MySejahtera will be resolved now that the trial has been terminated before its due date.

       National MCA Public Service and Complaints Bureau vice-chief Low Guo Nan said the trial was supposed to end in November this year, but volunteers received letters on its termination last week due to the government policy on booster doses.

       He said the volunteers understood the importance of booster doses and public safety but several issues still had to be sorted out.

       “For volunteers who received both doses of vaccine and a booster, the app shows that they only got the first two doses.

       “For those who received a placebo and are now required to get the booster, their digital certificate only shows that they received the third shot without their first and second doses.

       “Such missing information can cause problems for the volunteers if they wish to travel abroad,” he told a press conference at Perak MCA headquarters here on Friday (Jan 28).

       Low said as a volunteer in the clinical trial himself, he hoped the problem would be resolved soon.

       It was reported on Jan 22 last year that thousands of Malaysian volunteers were screened for the clinical trials of the vaccine, based on an inactivated virus platform, which also involved nine Health Ministry hospitals.

       It was reported that Malaysia was the first country outside China to trial the vaccine, which was developed by the Institute of Medical Biology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in China.
