SEREMBAN: Three more remand prisoners who escaped from the Jelebu prison on April 10 have been captured, says Jelebu OCPD, Deputy Supt Maslan Udin.
Zainuddin, 62, who is an Indonesian, was caught along with Mazlan Samah, 39 and Mohammad Aminuddin Khan Mohd Yusof, 28, in a jungle along Jalan Purun in Kuala Klawang around 10pm Tuesday (April 12).
"With the arrests, there remains only one more prisoner, identified as Muhammad Syafiq Rohmat, also known as Umai, still at large," he said in a statement.
DSP Maslan said police have obtained an order from the Magistrate's court here to remand the trio until April 16.
Police and prison officials had earlier captured three other prisoners prior to the trio's capture.
The seven are believed to have escaped through a hole in the ceiling in the facility’s Muhasabah 2 block, and later through another hole in the fence, which is believed to have been cut with wire cutters.
Sohaimi Khalid, in his 50s, was the first to be rearrested at about 7pm the same day.
He was found hiding in an oil palm smallholding in Kangkoi some two kilometres from the prison.
The second, Mohd Zairizan Zainal, 42, was caught at about 5.15am the following morning in Kg Petasih Tengah in Pertang.
Shazuan Md Sharif, 32 was the third to be caught at 4am Tuesday (April 12) in Sg Muntoh in Titi.
DSP Maslan also appealed to the public not to spread fake information as this can jeopardise investigations and public order.
With the exception of Zairizan, who is being probed for murder, the rest are awaiting trial for charges under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
DSP Maslan urged those with any information on the matter to contact the Jelebu IPD at 06-6136222 or investigation officer Inspector Zuria Anis Mahassan at 016-6096996, or the nearest police station.
