KOTA KINABALU: Two people, including a 10-year-old girl, suffered burns during a fire that razed two houses in Kampung Jaya Baru, Kota Kinabatangan on Thursday morning (May 26).
The girl suffered burns on her hands and legs while a 53-year-old man had burns on his back and the soles of his feet.
A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said both victims had been sent to the hospital by the public before the team from Kota Kinabatangan arrived.
The distress call was received at 7.53am and firemen managed to get the blaze under control by 8.36am to stop it from spreading to four nearby houses.
"A cat was also rescued during the operation.
"However, the two structures were 100% destroyed.
"The operation ended at 10.11am," said the spokesman.
