Keir Starmer will arrive in Kyiv on Saturday to demand Russia agree to a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine. The Prime Minister plans to meet President Volodymyr Zelensky alongside France’s President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
In a joint statement, they said: "We, the leaders of France, Germany, Poland the United Kingdom will stand in Kyiv in solidarity with Ukraine against Russia’s barbaric and illegal full-scale invasion.We reiterate our backing for President Trump’s calls for a peace deal and call on Russia to stop obstructing efforts to secure an enduring peace.

"Alongside the US, we call on Russia to agree a full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire to create the space for talks on a just and lasting peace.”
They are expected to host a virtual meeting, alongside President Zelenskyy, to update other leaders on the progress being made for a future coalition of an air, land, maritime and regeneration force that would help replenish Ukraine’s armed forces after any peace deal and strengthen confidence in any future peace.

"We are clear the bloodshed must end, Russia must stop its illegal invasion, and Ukraine must be able to prosper as a safe, secure and sovereign nation within its internationally recognized borders for generations to come.
"We will continue to increase our support for Ukraine. Until Russia agrees to an enduring ceasefire, we will ratchet up pressure on Russia's war machine."
The “absolute focus” of leaders of the UK-led Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) on Fridaywas supporting Ukraine and defending values that were hard won during the Second World War, Sir Keir said.

Speaking to broadcasters during a visit to HMS St Albans navy frigate in Oslo port, Norway, Sir Keir was asked what the message from leaders was to Russia and China as Chinese president Xi Jinping attended Victory Day celebrations in Moscow.
He said: “The message of leaders here is very, very clear, and that is that we’re focused on Ukraine. We’ve been with Nato allies here in Norway.
“(President) Zelensky came in virtually to part of that meeting.
