MEGA-RICH residents in the world’s most expensive apartment block face having to move out because of water leaks.

Pipework at London’s £1.1billion One Hyde Park has suffered “severe corrosion damage” in “almost all locations”, court papers claim.

Valves are said to be defective, putting at risk the health and safety of tenants due to the possibility of water contamination.

The luxury block, in Knightsbridge, West London, boasts 85 private apartments — with penthouses valued at £175million.

Stars such as singer Kylie Minogue, 53, who sold up last year, and actress Holly Valance, 38, have been residents with Arab sheikhs and Russian oligarchs.

But the problems are now so bad ceilings will have to be taken down, lawyers say.

It means residents will be forced to move out while the water supply is turned off and repairs completed.

Lawyers for owner One Hyde Park Ltd, in papers lodged at London’s High Court on December 22, say their client wants £10million from construction giant Laing O’Rourke in damages for breach of contract.

After setting out a list of alleged problems, the claims state Laing O’Rourke should foot the repair bill. Lawyers say issues began in February 2015, just four years after the grand opening.

Engineers found “severely” corroding copper pipes in the ceiling of one luxury apartment and alerted Laing O’Rourke.

Joint inspections later revealed corrosion “in almost all locations”.

Experts said the pipework and valve refurb “is a matter of urgency”.

But Laing O’Rourke’s legal team insisted the faults were the residents’ problem.

The 36-page writ says the penthouses are not affected.

Laing O’Rourke’s defence to the case has not been made publicly available.
