MELAKA: An unemployed man claimed trial to an offence of having in possession a "Rambo knife" at the Sessions Court here.

       The plea by Aiman Hakimi Hanafi, 23, was recorded before judge Elesabet Paya Wan on Wednesday (March 30).

       Based on the statement of facts, the accused was detained for allegedly having in his possession a black knife with the brand "SR Colombia" embossed on it at his waist during a police check.

       He allegedly committed the offence in front of a house at Taman Terendak Permai, Sungai Udang here at 12.50am on March 27.

       Generally used for emergency situations, the Rambo knife is well known as the weapon of John Rambo, the titular character of the hit films starring Sylvester Stallone.

       The alleged offence is under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, which carries a maximum jail term of 10 years and whipping, upon conviction.

       Aiman, who was unrepresented, was granted bail of RM10,000 with one surety. He posted bail.

       The court fixed April 27 for next mention.
