A 32-year-old woman was found dead in a fire Sunday afternoon in the Anacostia neighborhood of Southeast Washington, according to D.C. police and fire officials.

       The woman was identified by police as Cynthia Barringer.

       The fire was reported about 4:25 p.m. in the Galen Terrace apartments in the 2300 block of Green Street SE.

       Fire officials said the blaze was contained to one apartment and remains under investigation. A cause has not been determined.

       Barringer was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
