TOKYO -- Strong Typhoon Chanthu, located in the East China Sea and moving north-north-east on the morning of Sept. 13, may move toward the western Japan mainland, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
As of 9 a.m. on Sept. 13, Typhoon Chanthu, the year's 14th tropical storm, was located in the East China Sea and was moving north-north-east at a speed of about 25 kilometers per hour, the agency announced. It had a central atmospheric pressure of 960 hectopascals and was packing winds of up to 40 meters per second (144 kph) with gusts of up to 60 m/s (216 kph).
