PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,246 new Covid-19 infections on Monday (May 9), says the Health Ministry.
The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Tuesday (May 10) that this brings the new total to 4,461,135 cases since the pandemic began.
Of the 2,246, five are imported cases while 2,241 are local.
The CovidNow portal also said that there were 2,433 recoveries on Monday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 22,368.
Of the active cases, 94.9% or 21,230 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 4 people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).
Only 4.8% of active cases or 1,065 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 69 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.
Of that number, 39 require ventilator support.
