PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,817 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday (May 22), says the Health Ministry.
The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Monday (May 23) that this brings the new total to 4,491,320 cases since the pandemic began.
Of the 1,817, three are imported cases while 1,814 are local.
The CovidNow portal also said that there were 3,389 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 26,511.
Of the active cases, 95.7% or 25,366 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 18 people or 0.1% are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).
Only 4,1% of active cases or 1,250 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 40 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.
Of that number, 23 require ventilator support.
