PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Azam Baki says the conclusion of the investigation by the Securities Commission (SC) into his shares trading account controversy proves that he has done nothing wrong.

“I have been informed by the commission that the inquiry into the matter has been concluded. As such, it has closed the file accordingly.

“I am thankful to the SC for its decision which has found that I have not committed an offence,” the embattled Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner said when contacted yesterday.

Azam said he received an email from SC chairman Datuk Syed Zaid Albar informing him of the commission’s findings.

As such, he said he would continue as MACC chief commissioner and pledged to fight corruption “without fear or favour”.

He said that despite being under attack over the past few weeks, he would not lose focus in opposing graft and power abuse.

Earlier yesterday, the SC said it had not been able to establish conclusively that there was a breach of regulation involving Azam’s trading account.
