PETALING JAYA: Issues revolving around the livelihood of the people, such as the increase of water tariffs, were among the focus of Perikatan Nasional during its supreme council meeting on Friday (Jan 19).

       Perikatan secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said during the meeting - chaired by party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and attended by PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and Gerakan president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau - the party urged the Federal Government to give priority to the economic issues by solving the people's problems.

       "The supreme council discussed the latest issues on increasing livelihood burdens of the people, including the rise in water tariffs, and we are unanimously urging the federal government to give priority to the economic issues by solving the people's problems.

       "At the same time, Perikatan is committed to pursuing its party empowerment agenda and will organise the Perikatan Nasional People's Representative Convention and the Perikatan Nasional Empowerment Settlement in the near future," said Hamzah in a statement on Saturday (Jan 20).

       He added that Alor Setar MP Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden has also been appointed the new Perikatan Nasiona Youth leader effective today, and expressed gratitude to Ahmad Fadhli Shaari for his contributions and devotional services when he served as the former Youth leader from Jan 26, 2022, to Friday.
