KUALA LUMPUR: The Sessions Court here had to postpone the proceedings in the corruption case of Big Blue Taxi Services founder Datuk Shamsubahrin Ismail, as he has contracted Covid-19.

       Shamsubahrin's lawyer Muhammad Noor Azfar Muhammad Noor Azmi informed the court that his client is currently under home quarantine, as per the Health Ministry’s guideline.

       “My client went for a checkup at a private hospital last night, as he was not feeling well for the whole day.

       “He was tested positive on the same day,” Muhammad Noor Azfar said during an open court proceedings here on Wednesday (Aug 4).

       Prosecuting officer Abd Muntaqim Abdul Aziz from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission confirmed the matter and did not raise any objections.

       Sessions Court judge Rozina Ayub then fixed Aug 27 for next mention in the case.

       On Tuesday (Aug 3), it was reported that a 50-year-old Datuk, who is the founder of a taxi company, will be facing charges for allegedly soliciting and accepting a bribe amounting to RM95,000 from an individual whose corruption case was being tried at the Court of Appeal.

       "The suspect allegedly asked for the money to pay the Deputy Public Prosecutor and officers at the Attorney General's Chambers who worked on his case.

       "From the total amount requested, the suspect is believed to have received RM10,000 in his bank account, and another RM35,000 cash by hand," the source said.
