A Russian man set himself ablaze outside an army enlistment office in St Petersburg.

       The 24-year-old from the Krasnoyarsk region was swiftly taken to the Dzhanelidze Research Institute of Emergency Medicine and admitted into intensive care around midnight.

       Local reports suggest that the man, who describes himself as a dancer, musician and performer on his social media profiles, has had minor acting roles and featured in major advertising campaigns.

       It's believed the horrifying move was in protest to the draft enacted to find more Russian men to fight in Vladimir Putin's Ukraine war.

       Local media reported that the man received 90 percent burns on his body following the self-immolation.
