IPOH: A 11-year-old girl was killed after being thrown out from a car when the vehicle went out of control and slammed into the centre divider at KM340 southbound of the North-South Expressway.

Tapah OCPD Superintendent Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the girl, identified as N. Ashvika, died on the spot following the 1.30pm incident on Saturday (March 12).

"She was thrown out through the back window during the crash.

"Her death was confirmed by medical personnel from the Tapah Hospital," he said in a statement.

"Her youngest sister, Yaashika, six, is believed to have broken her left arm, pending an X-ray scan.

"The victim's parents, M. Neelavanan, 38, S. Jishanthini, 37 and another 10-year-old sibling, Dharsika, were unharmed," he added.

Supt Wan Azharuddin said the family was travelling to Selangor from Ayer Itam, Penang prior to the incident.

He said the case would be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving causing death.

"The deceased has been sent to the hospital forensics unit for a

post-mortem, which has been scheduled on Sunday (March 13) at noon, after a Covid-19 test," he said, adding that no arrest was made.
