KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah is ready to back PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the prime minister post if he can obtain a simple majority and get the support of 111 MPs.
In a tweet, Warisan's youth chief Datuk Azis Jamman asked Anwar to show that he could get the numbers in Parliament.
However, he said that if Anwar is unable to get enough support but Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal manages to muster the numbers, then Anwar and Pakatan Harapan should support the Warisan president as prime minister.
"Anwar has the support of only 105 MPs – that figure remains the same.
"So now it is up to Anwar to get the additional six MPs for a simple majority of 111.
"If he cannot get it, he must agree to support Shafie for the prime minister post if Shafie manages to obtain a simple majority," he said.
According to Warisan party sources, they are tired of being blamed for not backing Anwar's bid to be prime minister.
A Warisan official said that it was unfair for Pakatan to say that they were not getting the support of Warisan and claimed that they were offering Shafie the deputy prime minister post.
He said the combined Opposition figure had never wavered from 105 MPs (88 from Pakatan, four from Pejuang, one from Muda, eight from Warisan, two from Parti Sarawak Bersatu and one from Upko).
