PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has lodged police reports against three individuals for allegedly making false accusations about its officers.

       The MCMC said reports were lodged on Friday (April 19) over content uploaded by Badrul Hisham Shaharin, (popularly known as Chegubard), Mohamad Salim Iskandar and Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris (Papagomo) on TikTok, Facebook and YouTube on April 17.

       "The content insinuates that MCMC officers acted under instructions with political interests and abused their powers," it said in a statement here on Saturday (April 20).

       It added that the three falsely claimed that the officers were heard saying in a recording that they were upset with the current government and asking when the administration would change.

       "As a statutory body, the MCMC carries out its duties according to the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 and all subsidiary laws contained within," said the MCMC, categorically denying the accusations. – Bernama
