An Alexandria police officer has been arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery, the Alexandria Police Department said.

       Richard Haynes, 30, was arrested on March 16 after an alleged incident on Nov. 27, 2021, officials said Tuesday.

       No further details about the alleged incident were provided. Officials did not say how long Haynes has been with the agency.

       Haynes has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, the department said.

       It was not immediately clear whether Haynes had an attorney.
