KUALA LUMPUR: Police have taken the statements of rapper Caprice as well as Cinta Gaza Malaysia chief executive officer Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman over the Ebit Liew (pic) defamation investigation.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said both individuals had their statements recorded online via email.
"Our investigators sent questions for them to answer on Aug 29 and both of them have already responded.
"We have concluded recording statements from them and are satisfied with the cooperation they have given to our investigators," he said when contacted on Thursday (Sept 2).
He added that police were now completing the investigation papers and will refer it to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions.
It was reported that the police had requested Interpol’s help to locate rapper Ariz Ramli, better known as Caprice, and Muhammad Nadir.
The request was made on Aug 16 to have their statements taken online following a police report lodged against them by celebrity preacher Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew, or Ebit Lew, in July.
The police had also tried to contact the duo through email and social media platforms, but to no avail.
On July 21, Ebit Lew lodged a police report over various allegations levelled against him by several individuals on social media.
The case is being investigated under Section 500 and 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.
