KUALA LUMPUR: Interstate travel is permitted for students and teachers returning to schools or education institutions on condition that certified letters from the Education Ministry or the respective schools and institutions are produced.
Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Comm Datuk Hazani Ghazali said students, parents and teachers involved must show these letters to ensure smooth travel when passing through police roadblocks.
“Recently, the National Security Council outlined the standard operating procedure for daily movements to schools and education institutions, as well as for students returning to hostels.
“Students involved are allowed to cross state borders using letters certified by the ministry, schools and education institutions.
“A guardian can accompany the student for the travel to and from the school or institute,” Comm Hazani said in a statement.
Teachers who are required to cross state borders for the purpose of teaching or learning must also produce official letters.
“Students, who are returning to hostels, are also permitted to cross borders by showing the official documents,” he said.
