JOHOR BARU: A 35-year-old man has been arrested over the abduction of a 13-year-old schoolgirl.State police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the suspect, who tested positive for methamphetamine, was detained in Senawang, Negri Sembilan, at 8.53pm on Saturday.
He said a search operation was launched after the teenager was abducted in front of her school in Taman Molek here on Nov 25.
“The suspect has a criminal and drug record. Along with the arrest, we seized his mobile phone, a black shirt and a pair of jeans,” he said.
The suspect was placed under remand for four days until Dec 1 for investigation under Section 363 of the Penal Code for abduction, which carries a jail term of up to seven years and a fine upon conviction.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 6.50am when the victim was walking towards her school.
The suspect, who was driving a car, approached the victim and asked her to submit some forms to the school before trying to persuade her to get into the car.
The student refused and was dragged into the vehicle.
She managed to escape unhurt, after which the suspect drove away.
