OSAKA -- Osaka Prefectural Police announced on Dec. 3 that they have found a 64-year-old woman, who disappeared 41 years ago from this west Japan city's Miyakojima Ward and was considered a "possible abductee by North Korea."

The woman wasn't involved in a crime or accident, and has no health issues. According to prefectural police's foreign affairs division, the woman, who was an office worker, lived with her family at their home in Miyakojima Ward, but went missing in August 1980. Prefectural police proceeded with investigations and reportedly found her in Japan in September 2021.

In response, the National Police Agency has revised the number of potential Japanese nationals abducted by North Korea to 872 people.
