KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia remained in positive territory at midday Tuesday amidst window-dressing activities and improved market sentiment.
The FBM KLCI advanced 5.22 points, or 0.34% to 1,539.13 at 12.30pm.
There were 435 gainers, 339 losers and 413 counters traded unchanged on the Bursa Malaysia. Turnover stood at 1.21 billion shares valued at RM777.17mil.
Given the positive performance from Wall Street overnight, Malacca Securities expects the buying interest to be expected on the local equities.
It noted that foreign funds were net buyers on Bursa Malaysia in the past five trading days; the cumulative 5-day trading value stood at RM67.4mil.
On the commodity markets, the Brent crude oil has surged firmly above US$78, while the CPO price is hovering above RM4,600.
Meanwhile, Rakuten Trade believes buying interests to remain on the blue chips hence the index to hover within the 1,530-1,540 range today.
Genetec was the top gainer on Bursa Malaysia, rising 92 sen to RM38.42, followed by F&N, which climbed 24 sen to RM25.04, and MPI, which rose 24 sen to RM49.04.
Sam Engineering is the biggest loser, easing 18 sen to RM21.60. Seni Jaya shed 13 sen to RM2.51 and Keck Seng lost 11 sen to RM3.39.
